THE BARBER SHOP BREWPUB

It was the first bar on the once sleepy Mercer Street and it forever changed downtown Dripping Springs in 2011 when the Barber Shop opened its doors. Now, the bustling historic district is home to many fine establishments with The Barber Shop serving as the anchor. This is a true locals brewpub but don’t be mistaken, the atmosphere is one that is always welcoming and inclusive to whomever walks through the doors. If the bartenders don’t know your name, they certainly will after you’ve belly-upped to the counter to peruse the mighty selection of beers. On tap, they serve up lots of local beer and it’s always cold. On Tuesdays you can catch The Hill Country Ramblers playing good jams around the bar with a fiddle, stand-up bass, and guitars and harmonizing vocals. Sundays are the pickers circle where anyone can bring their instrument and jam. If you’re feeling hungry, grab a panini from out back to snack on while you’re sipping your ice-cold brew. You can even try some of the owner’s beers that they have on tap. The Barber Shop not only serves up beer, they also have wine and drinks for the under 21 crowd. Kids and dogs on a leash are welcome in this establoshment. Don’t go expecting a haircut or a cocktail but you can expect a good time.

ACOPON BREWING COMPANY

Just two doors down from the Barber Shop in the heart of Dripping Springs on Mercer Street is Acopon. Owned and operated by the same guys who run the Barber Shop, they brew their own beer and specialize in brewing English Ales. On tap, you’ll find Bitters, Old Ales, and Porters. The brewpub also serves wine, mead, cider and soft drinks. John and Dave, the owners started brewing beer as a hobby and then started selling it at the original beer pub, The Barber Shop. With the acquisition of Acopon, the two have been able to scale up the production – and boy are beer enthusiasts happy about it. With a laid back ambiance, it’s a place where you can enjoy a beer on the patio and watch the hustle and bustle of downtown Dripping Springs.

12 Fox Beer Company

Two glasses of beer on a picnic table.
Back in 1994, two Army boys met while at Ft. Sill for basic training and a friendship was born. Deployed all over the world together, Joe & Aaron, first discovered the world of authentic German bier while stationed in Bamberg Germany. Upon returning from the Motherland of biers, their palettes had been spoiled and the American options, which they once loved, no longer met their newly refined standards. Joe sought out German brews from local stores while Aaron took on the craft of brewing his own.

After several years they re-connected, Joe discovered that Aaron had evolved into quite the brewmaster in Las Vegas receiving multiple accolades and awards for his custom recipes. Wanting to take his passion for brewing to the next level, Aaron and Joe decided to partner up and bring high-end European master crafted beer to Dripping Springs, TX.
Some might call them good ol' boys; others call them crazy, but they like to think of themselves as craft beer connoisseurs. For them, beer is more than just a liquid and a brewery is not just a pet project. It’s a lifestyle, so they take pride in everything they do and everything 12 Fox makes.
Family. Country. Great Beer.
