Ready, set, CHECKLIST! You should definitely take time to celebrate your engagement—but when you're ready to officially start planning your wedding, here's how to dive in.

10 to 12 Months From the Big Day

•Pick up a copy of the Dripping Springs Wedding Guide
•Work on a budget – What are the things most important to you? Go all out!
•Do you have a style? Pick one and work from there
•Work on a rough draft of a guest list
•Pick your bridesmaids and groomsmen
•Indoor or Outdoor, keep weather in mind
•Select a date!
•Pick the perfect dress!
•Start deciding on vendors
•Is the stress getting to you? Hire a wedding planner


6 to 9 Months From the Big Day

•Don’t forget the honeymoon!
•Continue looking for wedding vendors
• Flowers
• Cake
• Entertainment
• Wedding invitations
• Caterers
•Select your bridal registry locations
•Talk to local B & B’s and hotels for out of town guests
•Pick out a special gift for your bridesmaids
•Search and pick out flower girl dresses
•How will you arrive and depart from the wedding? Search for transportation
•Create a guest list and location for bridal shower


3 to 5 Months From the Big Day

•Reserve rehearsal dinner location, pick menu, make guest list
•Get your linens, tents, tables & chairs booked
•Decide on favors for guests
•Pick grooms attire (or he might!)
•Edit guest list for invitations
•Check and approve wedding invitations
•Work on vows, especially if you are writing them yourselves
•Select a menu for the reception
•Get organized for the big day, set up times for hair & makeup
•Pick out and buy the ring
•Select and book honeymoon getaway


6 to 8 Weeks From the Big Day

•Mail out invitations, double check guest list
•Confirm bookings with vendors
•Look for information on obtaining a marriage license and name change requirements
•Try on the dress, get fitted if necessary
•Take a dance class
•Make sure bridesmaids and groomsmen have their attire ready


5 Weeks From the Big Day

•Mail rehearsal invitations
•Practice your vows, go over them with officiant
•Make sure photographer/videographer knows which shots are most important to you
•Work with the DJ/Band/venue to pick songs for wedding & rehearsal
•Make reception order, ask friends and family to make toasts or speeches
•Confirm wedding night and honeymoon accommodations
•Get the marriage license
•Pick up wedding rings
•Don’t forget something old, new, borrowed and blue
•Pick out a guestbook, toasting flutes & cake servers
•Purchase gifts for the bride & groom parents, and the wedding party
•Go for final fitting, take shoes for checking length
•Call guests who have not returned their RSVPs


1 to 2 Weeks From the Big Day

•Confirm final guest count and notify vendors, confirm cake delivery date
•Design a seating chart for the reception
•Pick up gown and check on wedding party attire
•Go over backup plan with venue for weather conditions
•Make sure you have vendors paid or checks for them
•Pack all wedding day items and your honeymoon bag
•Assign someone to pick up gifts after rehearsal
•Put someone in charge of seeing the reception area gets cleaned and all items returned to vendors
•Get ready for rehearsal, don’t forget wedding party gifts
•Try to get some rest, tomorrow is going to be a busy day BIG DAY
•Allow yourself plenty of time to get dressed
•Take your walk down the aisle
•Enjoy your big day, this is what you have been planning for
