Take a Road Trip Down Bell Springs Road

When was the last time you cruised down Bell Springs Road?

Once a rural, residential road, the meandering street has now become a mecca for some amazing local businesses. Follow along as we take a tour down Bell Springs Road and discover craft beverage destinations, gorgeous lodging properties, and even a European inspired wedding venue - Dripping Springs is the Wedding Capital of Texas after all. And since we are going to be hitting up wineries, a brewery, and a distillery, we recommend securing a designated driver.

Right off of highway 290 is our first stop – Dripping Springs Distilling

The purveyors of the world-famous Dripping Springs Vodka.

As soon as you pull onto Bell Springs Road, you’ll see the large, galvanized water tank welcoming you to Dripping Springs Distilling. While most well-known for their Dripping Springs Vodka, they also produce Dripping Springs Gin, Orange Vodka, 1876 Bourbon, plus a full line of mixers. The new visitor center and tasting room opened in 2021 and offers a small bites menu, tasty cocktails made with their award-winning spirits and a lovely shaded lawn and patio.

Dripping Springs Distilling

Parmeson Wines

Jut a hop and a skip down the road from Dripping Springs Distilling is Parmeson Wines, a new tasting room that features California wines. Tom Parmeson, the owner, opened a second wine tasting room in the Texas Hill Country to introduce his wines to the growing number of wine drinkers in the Lone Star State. They focus on producing handcrafted, premium wines in small lots from Sonoma County vineyards. Enjoy sauvignon blanc, cabernet sauvignon, pinot noir, or any of the other offerings from Parmeson Wines in the gorgeous Texas tasting room, or outdoors in the seating area that looks out towards the Dripping Springs Sculpture Garden.

Dripping Springs Sculpture Garden

The Dripping Springs Sculpture Garden, located on the same grounds as Parmeson Wines is owned and operated by Phil and Michelle Hoggatt of Carved Stone, and features more than 60 pieces displayed in a natural park-like setting. Check out the beautiful, sculpted artwork Tuesday through Thursday 9 a.m. – 4 pm; Monday and Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday -Sunday 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Locals tip: Purchase a bottle of wine, or glass and meander through the unique pieces of art that can be found in the sculpture garden.

Just a little further down the road is another California winery that has put roots down in Texas.

Graveyard Vineyards is a family operated business that added a second location in Dripping Springs to meet the needs of the growing community and offer an additional place for out of town guests to visit. The wine is made in Paso Robles, California, and then is shipped to the Dripping Springs tasting room. The unusual name comes from the property on which the wine is made. Located on the California vineyard is an old cemetery, hence the name Graveyard Vineyards. The owners thought it would be a great way to honor the history of the land and the people of the region, plus a unique way to brand their company.

Enjoy one of their many fine wines, like rose, pinot noir, or port in their spacious tasting room. The tasting rooms also features gifts, collectibles, and fun items to take home.

The Village of Time

Just down the road from Graveyard Vineyards is an incredibly gorgeous, Mediterranean inspired 16-acre property called the Village of Time. The property features world-class Euro Red Clay tennis courts and a grove of olive trees that are descended from 6,000-year-old Lebanese olive trees. The olive trees are well adapted to this part of Texas and are drought resistant with proven longevity.

The Village of Time hosts tennis tournaments on their gorgeous red clay courts, including the USTA Open Clay Divisions. It offers tennis weekends, socials, camps, clinics & tournaments on the state of the art and true Euro-Red clay tennis courts surrounded by Mediterranean terraces of lavender, rosemary and olive trees.

From the Village of Time, we’ll take a left on Bell Springs Road and head to Bell Springs Winery + Brewery.

You get the best of both worlds at Bell Springs Winery + Brewery because they produce wine with Texas-grown grapes and delicious craft beer! Bell Springs Winery + Brewery is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing afternoon on the shaded lawn and play some yard games while enjoying your drink of choice. Plus, on the weekends, you can order some tasty bites from the on-site food truck, and you can bring your kids and dogs because this destination is family and pet friendly.

If you’re needing a place to stay close to all the action, there are two great places to stay on the Bell Springs Road corridor.

Right next door to Bell Springs Winery + Brewery is Lucky Arrow Retreat.

You don’t even have to get in your car to go back and forth between these two properties – just head through their private gate located along the fence line.

Cabin on Barton Creek

About a half-mile down the road from Lucky Arrow Retreat is the Cabin on Barton Creek, an adorable rustic cottage that offers a peaceful getaway for folks needing a quiet escape. The property was once a camp for Hill Country kids for over 50 years and still offers many of the camp amenities like a swimming pool, basketball, and newly resurfaced tennis courts.

The picturesque property is 23-acres and is located along the headwaters of Barton Creek. If you are looking for a place where you can read a book, stargaze at night or watch the birds flitter among the ancient pecan grove, a stay at the Cabin on Barton Creek is exactly what you need.

If you keep heading north on Bell Springs Road, over the low water crossing at Barton Creek and through the valley, you will arrive at the entrance to Ma Maison - a Hill Country wedding and event venue that combines the warmth of home with breathtaking European-inspired elegance.
