With summer travel and road trip season in full swing, Texans are firing up their engines and hitting the pavement to explore small towns and hidden gems in the Texas Hill Country. If you’re having a hankering to get out of the house and safely venture out into the great state of Texas, we have curated a great list of places to stay that are off the beaten path as well as also offer privacy and relaxed seclusion.

Here are our picks for the best Hill Country retreats in Dripping Springs (but still just a short drive to fun things to do in Dripping Springs and Driftwood).

Hill Country Casitas

Located northwest of Dripping Springs off Fitzhugh Road, Hill Country Casitas is a picturesque hideaway perfect for an escape from the hustle and bustle. The Casitas are super close to popular nearby attractions like Hawk’s Shadow Winery, which is less than a mile down a quiet country road. Situated on 13 acres, you have your choice of 10 luxurious cabins that are spaced out among the rolling hills of the Texas Hill Country. Just down the road, you’ll find 12 Fox Brewing Co. as well as Pedernales Falls State Park. Casita amenities include a kitchen with a full-size fridge and freezer, two-burner cook-top, microwave, kitchen basics like flatware and dishes, and appliances, plus a full line of luxurious bath products, and essentially everything you need to enjoy a quiet and relaxing weekend in the Texas Hill Country.

Arbor House

A tree house bed and breakfast.

Stay at the Arbor House and experience one-of-a-kind themed tree houses for a truly special adventure. Arbor House consists of four different tree houses that sit in a canopy of trees eight feet off the ground. Each treehouse is complete with a kitchenette and spectacular views of the Texas Hill Country. Gaze at the hills through picture windows or from lounge chairs on the spacious decks or relax in a wooden porch swing under the cabins by the pond, waterfall, and stream. You can even fire up the barbecue grill in the evening for a picnic under the stars or play a round of corn hole.

Stay in and make the Arbor House your base camp for a full and eventful weekend or venture out and discover Pedernales Falls State Park - make sure to hop online and make reservations before you visit. After a hike and a swim, visit an area winery, brewery or distillery like nearby Bell Springs Winery + Brewery where you can enjoy a glass of wine or beer or enjoy a bite from the delcious food truck.

Infinity Ranch

Yet, the beautiful homes are only 15 minutes from restaurants, shopping, watering holes, and parks.

Each tiny home features AC/heat, full bath and walk-in shower, full kitchen with a fridge, cook top, and microwave. The larger tiny homes even have a washer/dryer. Also located on the Infinity Ranch property is a covered pavilion with a grill that is available for the guests to use!

Robin Hood's Hideout

If whimsical, magical, and quirky are characteristics that appeal to you, then you must stay at Havenwald, a quiet retreat tucked in the hills, about 10 minutes from downtown Dripping Springs. The 6-acre property is named Havenwald, which means "Haven in the Woods”. The jewel in Havenwald’s crown is Robin Hood’s Hideout, a storybook style tiny house. This magical cottage was designed and built with reclaimed and salvaged wood, fixtures and windows from about 30 different houses, barns and buildings.

This cozy and whimsical tiny home stands apart with its stained glass windows, cedar log ceiling, antique brass lights, and medieval touches. You’ll have the entire cottage to yourself, nestled among oak and cedar trees, and under the wide, open Texas sky. Robin Hood’s Hideout has a full kitchen, locally roasted coffee, teas, cream and sugar, bottled water, toiletries and fluffy towels. The small space is crafted with love and creativity and has everything you need to transport yourself to a different world.
