Alfresco Dining & Perfect Patios in Dripping Springs, TX

With 300 days of sunshine in Dripping Springs, pretty much every day is a good day for some outdoor dining. Whether it’s triple-digit heat, or one of the 70-degree February days, here are a few of our favorite bars and restaurants around town where you can eat on a patio, backyard, or any other open-air environment. HOMESPUN KITCHEN & BAR

Tucked away in a relatively quiet section of downtown, the patio at the cottage-inspired restaurant Homespun Kitchen & Bar is a welcome reprieve from a large and overcrowded restaurant, with some great food to match. On the menu, you’ll find farm-to-table favorites like a fried green tomato chicken salad, fish tacos, and homestyle classics like chicken fried steak. With two options for outdoor eating, on the front porch or outback which features a playscape for the little ones, Homespun Kitchen & Bar is the perfect al fresco dining option in downtown Dripping Springs.

THE PIZZA CAVE

The patio at the Pizza Cave on Highway 290 seems as if it were specifically created to take in the miles and miles of sweeping views of the Texas Hill Country. Sometimes you need a giant pie as big as your face and scenic vistas of the Hill Country and Pizza Cave offers just that. In addition to the New York-style pizza, you’ll find delicious garlic knots, strombolis as well as local beers on-tap and local wines by the glass.

DOS OLIVOS MARKET

Dos Olivos Market offers a gorgeous patio overlooking beautiful rolling Hill Country. Offering a curated experience in which Old World Tradition and Texas Charm meet, you'll find quality wines, beers and gourmet foods. The perfect spot to sip a glass of Chardonay, share a charcuterie board and watch the sun go down.

VERDE’S MEXICAN RESTAURANT

The entire “patio” at Verde’s off Hamilton Pool Road is an enormous fenced-in lawn/play area offering a spacious outdoor environment. Verde’s menu features upscale non-traditional Mexican-inspired delights like a chipotle pork chop, bacon-wrapped quail, and verde queso that is served with pesto, poblanos, and parmesan toast. Enjoy a delicious cocktail or something from their full bar while enjoying the surrounding Hill Country scenery.

Jester King Brewery

Jester King is a great place to unwind or spend a chill Sunday afternoon on the picnic tables in the Biergarten or inside their spacious covered patio. If you’re looking for a spot to grab excellent beer and food outdoors then a visit to this destination brewery is a must. This award-winning brewery even offers hiking trails, and multiple stations to fill up on their ever-changing selection of wild-fermented farmhouse ales and you can almost always catch a glimpse of the adorable roaming goats that call the brewery home. Right now, spots are available by reservation only.

Driftwood Estate Winery and The Driftwood Bistro

There’s a reason that Driftwood Estate Winery boasts the million-dollar view. With several outdoor and open-air seating areas, from a covered patio to the picnic tables that overlook the vineyard and valley, there’s literally no location on the grounds that doesn’t offer those incredible, million-dollar views. The Driftwood Bistro menu is an eclectic mix of globally inspired food prepared to compliment the winery's wonderful line-up of wines. And speaking of wines, they’re all made with 100% Texas grapes and award-winning!

Bars & Watering Holes with great outdoor patios

VISTA BREWING

Vista’s whole motto is fresh air and fresh beer, and this Driftwood-based brewery delivers on both. The open-air environment and perfectly poured beer are best enjoyed beneath the shade of an old oak tree in their outdoor biergarten patio. Enjoy the walking trails, farm, and wide-open outdoor spaces on 21 acres of beautiful Texas Hill Country. Or find a picnic table, a gliding rocker, or a seat beside their outdoor fire pit while you sip on one or all of their hyper-local craft beers. (Photo: Vista Brewing)

GRAWLIX COCKTAIL LOUNGE

Located in the heart of downtown Dripping Springs, Grawlix Cocktail Lounge has one of the best patios in downtown, complete with refreshing cocktails and views of Mercer Street and the Warehouse District. Enjoy live music on the weekends, seasonal cocktails, and local beers and wines. Grawlix also has a small-bite food menu featuring a charcuterie board with crudité.

Family Business Beer Co.

FBBC is a go-to watering hole for fans of the CW’s hit show Supernatural, but it’s also a great destination for folks to enjoy great beer and delicious pizza. FBBC’s spacious dog-friendly patio is where this brewery really shines. There are tons of picnic tables shaded by multiple oak trees and even a fenced-in area specifically for the kiddos. Order pizza, enjoy some live music, and perhaps even see celebs/owners Jensen and Daneel Ackles.

Hawk's Shadow Winery

Life inherently becomes more beautiful just by sipping a glass of wine but imagine enjoying some vino while taking in a stunning view - that’s what you get when you visit Hawk’s Shadow Winery. Their patio is situated on a hill that overlooks the Pedernales River Valley and their vineyard. Dogs are also welcome. Enjoy a glass or a bottle of their handcrafted Texas wine. Acopon Brewing

Acopon’s outdoor patio area is reminiscent of a small-scale European biergarten complete with tables from Germany. The patio serves as the most prime location to watch the goings-on that are inevitably taking place on Mercer Street, all while enjoying one of their fine English ales. Although you won’t find brats, or even British bar food, you can chow down on some delicious pizza from the food truck located adjacent to the patio.

One Shot Distillery & Brewery

This veteran owned brewery and distillery just about has it all: live music, food, plenty of outdoor seating both in the sun and in the shade and, perhaps best of all, a variety of beers and cocktails depending upon what you’re craving. The beer garden is nestled underneath a majestic grove of live oaks where you can enjoy a classic Amber beer with food truck grub from Drippin’ Wings. (Photo: One Shot Distillery and Brewery)

SUDS MONKEY BREWING

Sud’s new location opened last spring and features an expansive outdoor area for guests to enjoy. The 21-acre property located at 290 and Nutty Brown, conveniently near Belterra Village has roll-up doors creating indoor/ outdoor space, with a front patio and a backyard with play area for kids.
