The space
The Hatton House Bed and Breakfast sits on 20 acres of beautiful Texas Hill Country land, just 2 miles outside of Dripping Springs, TX. The perfect location whether you are visiting Dripping Springs to enjoy the wine tours, attend a wedding at one of Dripping Springs many wedding venues (we are just 10 minutes from Camp Lucy) or just want to get away for some quiet time.
The original house was built around 1857, restored and added onto by the previous owners, Ester and A.R. Hatton in 1942. Through the last 20 years we have maintained, repaired and added few "up-grades", always keeping in mind the charm and character of Ester and A.R. Decorated with many of their own belongings, pictures, books and furnishing, you get a hint into the lives of this unique couple.
Our hope is to host you. To us that means creating and offering you a space of comfort. We want you to eat well. The mama of the kitchen will provide a hot breakfast each morning , or prepare your own goods in a fully equipped kitchen. We want you to roam. Take your time to walk down to the creek, smell the budding lavender field, and pick some fresh veggies from the garden. We want you to visit. Sit down, grab a book, rest; or bring your family, play frisbee, chat around the fire.
We consider our homestead a gift and we look forward to sharing it with you!
We are very committed to taking care of our land and waterways. We strive to live organically in our daily lives as well as how we manage the garden and surrounding property. Because of the age of the house and the area we live in, it is likely you will see a bug or two, mainly pill bugs and daddy long legs in the summer.
The downstairs of the house has a full kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and sunroom. There is a door from the bedroom, which opens to a shared courtyard.
The upstairs room has a bathroom and fire place, There is an up-charge for using the upstairs room.
Check in/out details: At this point check in/out is flexible, as we do not often book back-to-back guest. We generally check in around 2:00pm and check out around noon, however should you need to early or late check in just let us know as early as possible and I’m sure we can accommodate your needs. We will be there to meet you, walk you through the house and get you settled.
You will find a fully stocked kitchen where you can prepare most simple meals. There will be coffee, cream, sugar, tea and juice in the refrigerator. There are basic spices in the pantry and of course herbs you may pick from the garden.
Interaction with guests can be via phone, internet, or just walk up to the main house if you need something. We will check in on our guest daily, but you are welcome to let us know if you prefer to have your privacy.
There is no neighborhood around us. Just dirt roads to walk down and stars to gaze at! We do have a neighbor how lives across the canyon, sounds travels through easily, so please only nice soft music out side by the fire pit.
You will probably arrive by car and will need that to get around. We are just 2 miles from the center of ripping Springs where you will find plenty of restaurants and grocery stores. Please feel free to bring your bikes. Creek Road is a wonderful place to take a bike ride.
