Interested in learning how the Songwriters are chosen for the Dripping Springs Songwriters Festival?
The songwriter submission process is well underway, and the Dripping Springs Songwriters Festival has already received over 170 incredible submissions from 28 different states, and even a few from other countries. While there is still time to apply to be a songwriter at the Festival, (June 15th is the deadline*), we wanted to shed some light on the songwriter selection process, and how the committee goes about choosing which songwriters will perform.
Over the three days of the festival, there will be over 60 showcases, on 6 different stages with 45 different and unique songwriters performing. But how do those performing songwriters make it to the DSSF stages in historic downtown Dripping Springs?
First, interested songwriters must apply on the DSSF website. There’s a simple form to fill out that asks for basic information, a short bio, and a website address.
Next, once the application is submitted, all the submissions are evaluated by an esteemed group of music industry professionals. The selection committee goes through each submitted application, reviews the information, checks out songwriter websites, listens to songs, watches videos of live performances, looks over social media channels and then base their selection off the submitted information.
Songwriters that have performed in previous years are also asked if they would like to return to the festival and are not required to re-apply.
Once the expert committee has reviewed each application and made their selections, the committee members contact the selected songwriters to let them know they have been chosen to showcase their talent at the festival. The committee chooses the very best of returning songwriters, and new applicants.
Since the festival was founded in 2014, it has proven to be one of the most successful events in Central Texas and we are delighted to bring over 3000 music lovers to the area to listen to songwriters share their hits and up-and-coming new songs. At this intimate event, music is played continuously each day of the festival.
